What is Paracord?!?!
Paracord (short for Parachute Cord) was
originally used in the suspension lines for parachutes. The kind used by
the US military for this purpose is Type III, or #550 paracord. It is
made of nylon, and consists of an outer jacket with seven braided inner
threads. Only about 3/16 of an inch thick, it can support up to 550 lbs
(under perfect test conditions). Each of the 7 inner threads support 50
lbs each, and the outer jacket, supports 200 lbs, for a total of 550
lbs! Paracord generally has very good strength for is thickness compared
to other common kinds of rope, and because of its tough nylon
construction, it is resistant to fade, rot, and abrasion.
The paracord we carry is known as Paracord 550, or Type III. Our
paracord is manufactured by US Government contractors, using the same
machines and materials the government issued paracord is made with. The
government issue paracord is stress tested and certified for 550 lbs,
where as the commercial paracord is not.
Paracord is perfect for people in all walks of life, not just
outdoorsmen. Besides tying things down (or up), paracord can be used
for: Ridgelines for Tarps , Shoelaces, Hanging Food from Bears, Vehicle
Tie Downs, Sewing Fabric, Repairing Equipment, Fishing Line, String for
a Fire Bow, Making a Shelter, Net Repair, Animal Snares, Clothes Lines,
Anchoring, Animal Restraints, Tooth Floss, Splints, Tourniquets,
Paracord Braiding & Other Paracord Crafts.
The possibilities are endless!
Here at Knot My Time, we carry only the highest quality paracord. No
low-quality import stuff! Only the best will do!
